Drawing Ideas Quick-Start Worksheets make the sketching process easier and more comprehensive enabling you to plan out the key moments in a sequence, scene, or scenario, for better communication. The goal of these worksheets is to assist in the transition from writing to sketching helping you to plan richer visual stories to support your design process. This process is flexible, and the visuals and writing should inform each other and, ultimately, your argument.

AEIOU Design Thinking Worksheets developed by Mark Baskinger and Bruce Hanington is a framework that guides designers in thinking through a problem or scenario from a variety of perspectives: activities, environments, interactions, objects, and users. They are useful in organizing thoughts, observations, and ideas into distinct categories. The AEIOU design frame is credited in 1991 to Rick Robinson, Ilya Prokopoff, John Cain, and Julie Pokorny at the Doblin Group in Chicago. Rick Robinson then carried the framework to E-Lab LLC, where it appeared in company publicity materials in the late 1990s. Download the AEIOU Worksheets here.
